The law of concentrated attention states that if you really want something and picture yourself already having it, you are more likely to achieve or receive it. This is a very powerful technique that we will be using during this therapy.
Buy an item of clothing in the size that you would like to be – it must be brand new and NOT something you already own. It can be a small, cheap item.
Hang it on the outside of your wardrobe or somewhere clearly visible where you will see it regularly. Visualize yourself in the garment, with it fitting perfectly.
You will be provided with hypnotic audios that contain the latest techniques. It is a very important part of this therapy programme. Listen to 2 of these audios every day for the full 7 days. It is essential that you do this at least at bedtime and in the morning or through the day at least once per day and more if you can. This will create new neural pathways in your brain regarding your behavior with food.
You will increase the effect tenfold if you listen to it using stereo headphones via your MP3 player, computer or smartphone. You need to sit in a comfortable chair or rest on your bed whilst listening to them.
It is very important to respond immediately to hunger signals, so it is important to always carry food around with you. This can be fruit, dried fruit, nuts, a suitable cereal bar or something similar – use your judgement here. If you are hungry, you must listen and respond by eating.
This hypnotherapy weight management programme will simply NOT work with any other system, so please stop any other diets immediately.
Please do not weigh yourself during this programme – if you are continually weighing yourself, you are focusing on food and weight, which will have a negative effect and could undermine the effects of the therapy. Really it is all about health, shape and size. This is very important – avoid the scales!
This is all about mindful eating!
If you often eat quickly, shoveling food in order to get a high from the chemicals released, you are not listening to your body. If you eat without listening to your body, you don’t notice when you are full - so, if you keep eating and expanding your stomach it will be no surprise if you put on weight. Often this results in feeling bad and so repeating the process to try to gain the ‘happy’ chemicals again.
Mindful eating - this is perhaps the single most important key to success with this system:
You can eat whatever you want, whenever you want. So long as you fully enjoy every single mouthful. This is key! Put the knife and fork down whilst you are chewing your food and really enjoy it - savour the taste and enjoy each texture and sensation as you thoroughly chew each mouthful of food at least 15 times!
If you slow your eating pace down to about a quarter of what it used to be, you will find it easier to notice when you are satisfied and be aware that you can leave the excess food for another meal, freeze it or throw it in the bin.
Never eat in front of the TV! This would distract you from listening to your body – sensing when you are comfortably satisfied. You need to focus on the food. Be aware of every single mouthful. Enjoy the eating experience.
Each person is different, but as a general rule, you want to eat whenever you notice yourself between 3 and 4 on the hunger scale – that is when you are fairly hungry, but before you become eager and greedy. If you wait until you get down to one or two your body will go into starvation mode, and you’ll end up probably eating more than your body needs and storing the excess as fat. Ideally, you’ll want to stop eating at right around 6 or 7 on the hunger scale – when you are feeling pleasantly satisfied or full but not yet stuffed or bloated.
FROM NOW ON NEVER GO INTO THE RED AREAS!
Practise tuning into your body once an hour until you begin to notice differences between different points on the scale. The more you practise tuning in to your own hunger, the sooner you’ll be able to recognise your body’s subtle signals long before your stomach growls and your brain starts to get fuzzy.
RULE 6 – When you are hungry eat!
We eat because of habit and at set times of the day.
You need to listen to your body and eat when you are hungry – to avoid starvation mode coming on, when your body slows down the metabolism and starts to store food as fat for use later when there is no food around. If you eat when feeling very hungry you are more likely to binge. Listen to your body!
In future, when you feel slightly or fairly hungry – eat! Doing this will tell your body that there will always be enough food and your metabolism is likely to speed up.
RULE 7 – When you feel satisfied, STOP eating.
Listen to your body!
Many of us are conditioned to eat until we are over full or until the plate is empty. This is waste in your body, and you are carrying it around with you! This excess fat is food waste that you have paid for, and you are dragging it around with you – it would be better to waste it in the bin!
You must listen to your body – you will get a signal from your body when you are satisfied. This can be a gentle, satisfied sensation in your solar plexus area (below the ribcage). Also, notice how the enjoyment of food reduces with each extra mouthful as you become more satisfied. At this point, stop eating! Store the food for another time or put it in the bin.
The more you listen to your body, the easier it becomes. Just guess to start with and it will become easier each day.
